so what if im a girl?

Sew up your lips,
I'm coming around the corner
Play the man everyone falls into trust with
Be the friend who never fails to say hello
who holds your hand after a bad day
warn me who is about to hurt me for all the wrong reasons
tell me you would never have me decorate your apartment
waste over a year of my time
sailing on a ship built with rotting lies
And then it all rips up
I'm not the girl who puts herself on that shelf
Should have known sooner
Listened to my list of stereotypes
You could've fought harder
to be a man worth knowing
Couldn't you have tried harder
to live up to the words you spoke?
And I feel just a little too numb
the question floats to my mind
what does my gender have to do with simply being a friend?

Amen!

PS: I've been wearing the bracelet that you made for me as an anklet and absolutely love it. I jingle every time I take a step. :-)

everything, baby... everything. anyway thats the answer for all the wrong reasons. you're my baby... not in a misogynistic way but in a i wanna take care of you and protect you sorta way... but i like that you'll take these times and make them yours and be a positive spin doctor... sorta weaving your own picture, making the ugly into something beautiful... cuz you're a woman... that's why. man, i always hated that word "woman"... but its not like some 4-letter word i once saw it as... something embarassing... still getting used to it i guess.

Well articulated, sis. I think certain guys need to see things like this.

Forceful, affirming stuff. In a few word calls one to action, begs for new eyesight.

nicely said.

Faddle
I wanted to comment on this blog you left a while ago and it just now seemed like a good time!
So here we go!!!!!!!!!
Honestly the problem I have is I never ever upon any circumstance sew my lips and you shouldn't either.
YES I agree every guy should here this but this does not include every guy. That would be a stereotype and thats the last thing you need to follow at this point is a stereotype. I know you are the youngest out of the bunch and yet you still have so much growing to do like the rest of us. I will be the first to tell you to follow your heart. Be a leader not a follower. You never learn a life lesson if you don't try.
People are in our lives for a reason that reason is yet to be determined. Its what we as people make of the situation.
I do agree 100% we can all try to live up to the words we speak. ALL OF US. That leaves me to no exclusion by any means. That all goes back to practice what you preach. The simple fact of the matter is, we all make mistakes its what we take from those mistakes and turn them into positives. Its our job as people to try and learn from our wrongs and see if we can RIGHT them out. A little pun for ya. HAHA
As far as for gender it has everything to do with it. MARS and VENUS. GUYS and GIRLS. If we were the same we wouldn't have different terms for both of us. HAHA
No but CEREALLY we don't have an open line of communication between us all thats what essentially causes the meltdown. I mean lets be real here MEN don't understand women. Women be real now I know your reading you don't understand men.
It all goes back to what I posted on Andrews blog about how we have a societal breakdown between cultures. Maybe I'm getting a little to deep but if everyone thinks back with me there at some point in time in any relationship they had a complete meltdown in communication.
Trust me I hate the fact that you at some time possibly got hurt. I really do but if you look at what I'm saying, I'm not here to protect you. I"M just trying to KEEP IT REAL. If that hurts I APOLOGIZE.
